A nice window into Marla's thoughts during that episode - and an epic episode it was. I like the idea that she painted the portrait after she met him, not before. It was never discussed in the episode, but I think it makes more sense for it to have happened this way.
One also wonders, given the events portrayed in The Wrath of Khan, would Khan have been a different man had she lived. Yes, he was always power hungry, yes he always felt the need to conquer, but would his irrational, all-consuming rage at Kirk, and his need for vengeance, have been as strong if Marla had been there to temper it?
When Chekov and Terrell found the survivors on Ceti Alpha V, would he have been okay with a simple rescue and relocation, or would his anger still have been so great nevertheless?
Again, this was great - you packed so much into a few words. Good job!
Author's Response: Thanks LBD. You give interesting thoughts.

Gosh, I just watched that episode for the first time in ages. While she mooned over Khan, I was yelling at her to get up and act like a responsible member of Starfleet instead of a hormone-driven teenager. I was cheering her on when she later had a change of heart and saved Kirk. Your story gives a nice little insight into those events. I wonder if she ever regretted her decision to follow Kahn into exile? That would make a very interesting chapter...
Author's Response: Yes it would. Unfortunately the muse has been silent about that.
