However short and sweet punches to Kirk's core. Can only imagine he sought Spock at that final moment. Sure if Spock knew Kirk had returned he would have been there for his friend.

Glad you liked it!

A wonderful look into the mind of the famous James T. Kirk as he pass on, I think it was a nice touch that in his mind he hear Spock voice given him a correction quote from Dylan Thomas one last time. You have crafted a fine piece there in just over three hundred words.

You did a nice job with the touchstone to ST Generations events and Kirk slipping in focus.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. The image came to me all at once and I just had to write it.

I loved it. I always wondered what was running through Kirk's mind in that scene, and I enjoyed your take on it. I'd like to think he was thinking of Spock.

Author's Response:

Thanks for the read. So glad you like it!

Oh God. That was ... well I had thought myself about using the phrase in the context of someone dying but damn it is so haunting and fitting and especially so here in this context. And I think, what really makes it work is that once we the reader snap to the reality of the situation, that this is Veridan III after the return from the Nexus it is actually Kirk who is not clued in on the reality of his situation. And as to be expected, he wants nothing more than for the companion at his side - Spock.

Author's Response:

Thanks so much! Glad to hear that it drew you in! You made my day.

Nice look at Kirk's final thoughts.  And, of course, they would stray to his closest friend and confidante.

Author's Response:

Thanks! I wasn't going to do a challenge, but the little story just demanded to come out.
