I loved the little detail of even the small children playing tag in the dream as they follow the instructions to "be with who you desire." Very innocent and sweet. As always, this family is a complicated web, but they seem to be striving valiantly to make it work. You clearly spend a lot of time worldbuilding in your mind -- it must be a very interesting place. :)

A fascinating look at the history and rituals of the Calafan people. I'm still amazed by the rich bit of world-building you've done here - weaving the lives of the Calafan people in the Lafa system with those in the mirror universe. It feels very right that the Calafans would include the human members of their population in this so very important festival, and that they would have the courtesy to explain the meanings of their names - a service the average Calafan would likely not need.
Very well written, and thought-provoking, as always! :D
