Ah, so, we share a passion! I always wanted to know how Spock became the person he was. Yesteryear, the animated episode was a revelation, and a delight, but all stories that feature him as a young boy become a great draw. He does suffer doesn't he? But maybe that gives him an inner strength for his life aboard the Enterprise.

Thanks for the read! Yes, Spock is most always conflicted in one manner or another. You might also want to check out stories by li'l black dog, at least a couple of which are tales of Spock's childhood and very well written.

It seems you and I share a favorite character, and a Vulcan holiday as well. ;-)
Poor Spock. This story just made me ache for him. I always found it interesting that a plenitude of Vulcan adults never thought to question the actions of the tormentors, be they physical threats, hateful words, or a combination of the two. It seems they are able to overlook these faults in the very young who are of pure blood...
As much as he is suffering now, we know that one day he will grow to be comfortable in his own skin, no longer at the mercy of those who would judge him not by the content of his character - which is impeccable by Vulcan standards - but by physical traits they perceive as a taint, which in the end allow him to become the best of both worlds.
Chin up, my boy. Your future awaits, and it is glorious beyond your wildest dreams.

Yes, I definately am fascinated by Spock, and always have been. Thanks for your kind words. I imagine that the children who were cruel to Spock were disciplined, but like bullies everywhere, they simply could not pass up the fun of provoking him as long as they got a response.
Just now I am rewriting a story, "T'Khut Rising", in which Spock's son is similarly tormented during a trip to Vulcan. A boy throws a rotting dead animal at him, says it is his dinner, and calls him a "meat-sucking Earther". Some things never change.

I really liked the reference to T'Pring in here. Makes sense that there would be at least a brief glimpse of her, long before she shows up in canon. That also spins Amok Time differently, and how little Spock told Christine Chapel in canon, about the fact that he had a fiancée.
