Ah, Doctor Fielding. I like that she’s not all super-happy about being aboard the Enterprise, like everyone else when they get assigned there. It’s a refreshing change. Seeing Rand show up and being friendly was nice, but Lauren seems to be a bit of a shut-in. I like that in doctors (have one of those myself and he’s always a pain to get out and socialize). McCoy trying to hook her up with Kirk was just pure win, especially her reaction to it (again, another thing she’s not into that any other chick likely would be … he’s KIRK).

And then Chapel. She’s got the whole “jeleous of the new girl” thing going, especially since Lauren is researching Vulcan diseases. I feel like these two need to fight and get it over with, but I think Chapel would win (she’s an old at this ship serving stuff).

The journey into the abyss of the ship, eventually leading to Spock (why was he there? Meditation?) and then to a very embarrassed Mr. Scott and his friend … oh my. Lauren did a great job of being professional, something I myself may not have been able to do, and she handled it with aplomb.

I like her. She has some definite potential and her little tale here was quite fun.

Author's Response:

Thanks! Yes, Lauren is a bit of a loner and not at all interested in the famously amorous Jim Kirk.  I think that right now she's just interested in keeping her head above water.

If you read on, you will see who ultimately wins that Chapel-Fielding feud, but round by round, one has to wonder.

Yes, what was Captain Spock doing down there in the abyss? Escaping the party madness by going on one of his solitary tours? And than that little cubicle just looked so inviting with its private view of the stars. A good place to settle his mind and consider the difficult day ahead.

Glad you had fun!
