And that's it, isn't it? That all we have left are memories of the ones who are lost. I hope Emmylou gets a chance to write down her memories so that they aren't lost after she, too, is gone.

I love how the various species' and cultures' traditions are being woven in here. The little personal memories are great, and are very compelling.

I love Emmylou and she's got quite a memory, I bet. And thinking of Scott in the present tense is of course perfectly true and expected.
