Well, home at last! And what a trip, too. I can only imagine the shock when it was the Seleya coming through and how it felt to get word all of them were alive after all of that. A great little tale.

Author's Response: Thank you, dear.

I really liked the interaction between Frank and Sanjay. The Seleya's crew is handling all of this with good natures and grace intact, but then, they set off to be explorers and that is just what they're doing here. And making pals over a bear hunt, too! I like it!

Wow damn did they just get an asskicking. I really liked the look at each person preparing and thinking. I also really liked that their brand new ship is not immune to a beating, but that everyone remains calm and cool despite it. And well done on conveying the horror of the fate of Vulcan, too.

I love your look at alternate history here. Just the way things played out on Earth is fascinating, if not kind of frightening. Mitchell was likewise kind of scary, but I think he was meant to be. Perling and his quirks are good, and Sanjay is delightfully chill under what is a big, ugly piece of pressure.

Holy crap, Mistral, you don't give them any possible quarter, do you? I mean, right from the start of a promising, upbeat mission to BAM! Sanjay gets knocked ass over teakettle along with his brand new ship, and then six months later...

Very nicely played, sir. Very nice indeed. I started this years ago and forgot that bit of awesome. Time to see what happens next!

A nice wrap up to the story. I got a kick out of something from TOS playing such a prominent role. This was a fun read and a good intro to your crew.

Nice to see the Cardassians making a nasty little cameo. It's just not a party without them. I like how you solved the mystery of the dented saucer. It makes a good deal of sense. Well written chapters!

Author's Response: I struggled with that one a long time-I didn't want it to seem too "cutesy" an ending.

They aren't facing a very palatable decision, no matter which way they turn. I'm glad it seems they won't be hanging around for a closer look at the dystopian Earth they've encountered. I liked this development.

Author's Response: thank you!

They do say that the majority of accidents happen close to home. This is an interesting introduction to the crew, and it starts off with a bang. I really like that you included Nog. I always liked him on DS9.

Author's Response: So did I-and I wanted something to lend continuity without using stardates.

Wow...seems like this story had a quick ending, but I'm glad to know there's more!

A threat from the Mirror Universe?  I shall be very interested to see who is in charge of this threat...especially since it seems like a different version of the MU (i.e. one where the Terran Empire didn't fall, like in the canon MU).

Author's Response: Whoops. Misunderstood where the last review was taking place-This is a gentler Universe. Maybe the Cardassians got beaten back by their disaster a little worse and haven't recovered as far yet. As to teh differences in "this" Terran Empire-read Corkscrewed. It's a hum-dinger if I do say so myself-but you might benefit from character development in Frail Blood first...

Still enjoying this--got a question, though.  Why are there no Cardassians in this universe?  Is it that their history went differently and they simply choose not to fight?  Or did something bad happen to them?

And I'm curious, what's the "Prime Directive" in a situation like this?  I can see why Sanjay did what he did in giving away that information--but I also wonder if Starfleet Command back in his own universe might have some words for him about that later...

Author's Response: If I understand the part you're talking about, the Klingons are the bad-asses here and Earth is under the heel. Or its Xenophobic Earth and the Cardassians don't have the counterweight of the Federation to balance Alpha Quadrant power-making certain pointy-eared people more dangerous.

Ouch--those are some kickass Cardassians!  And it seems like Macet really had a character change, too...or got high on his people's victory and it made him more like his cousin.

Now we've got another problem...all the damage to the ship.  Let's hope there are friendlies in this universe willing to do repairs.  Although I'm not so sure I should be optimistic about that...

You have what looks to be a very promising story here, and a very unusual crew.  I can see now where Shand and Torres get it!  It seems to me almost like the entire crew reacts to stress with a lot of irony and humor.

Just a few issues I noticed...you seem to have some inconsistencies with spelling, both on canon character names and your own characters.  I also see some places where the punctuation could be cleaned up a bit.

But overall...like I said, I think you've got a good story going here! :-)

Okay, now that I caught up on Miranda's... I'd say you have a good start; a really thrown-for-a-loop beginning, too. Just when you think Sol is the safest place in the galaxy, the Seleya gets screwed right there near Jupiter. Really fascinating; looking forward to reading more!

A stark history lesson there. All the more reason for our heroes to not hang about. Like the reference to 'Parallels' [?] and the science was explained without technobabble. It's always good to understand a dire predictament.

Author's Response: Glad you liked it. I read AH stories a lot so I had a wealth of info to draw on. Still one of the hardest things to write, though. You finish this and I'll post the third story-it wraps the mess up(mostly).

Ok, the Captain reading the records of his command crew is a handy to give an overview of our characters. It's a neat and simple way to get a lot of exposition out of the way but flows with the story. Odd though he never appeared to have met with nay of them prior to the launch.

I like your choice of Captain by the way.

The sudden and swift change of pace after the accident is great. With the Janeway Reg bit I had wondered originally why introduce us to characters who don't even make it past the first page. Though Voyager did that in Caretaker.

The fire is a dangerous predictament and I'd have liked more drama about that but I suppose it shows the skills and brains of the Engineer.

Lastly, having Jupiter Station missing is a good hook. Where ever has it been misplaced? LOL
