What a wonderful little short story SLWalker.
Given the way you’ve written both Scotty and Spock’s relationship with Captain Pike. I’m sure the Moment he was promoted off and replace by the young Captain Kirk. Must have been very hard for them both, was an interesting way to give the two men a common link. Still Spock mental thought about the old guard been more than the two of them in fact, did seem very adapt for Spock.

Never easy to adjust to major change. Especially if, like in this case, it means to say good bye to a respected and beloved leader and mentor. And yet a silver lining, as it brings two men together and strengthening their common bond.
