That's awesome.
An interesting little tease to this man's past. I realize he states his parents forced him into doing this errand, but given his attitude and "style" at handling the situation...he definitely picked up a thing or two from them, but what did they do to him that made him just up and run away like that? Definitely some thought fodder for later stories. Besides that, I thought it was pretty good for setting the stage for Kallachit. A Nausicaan in Starfleet seems so very strange, but then, so did a Klingon. If Worf could manage it, I'm sure a Nausicaan could also manage to change his attitude and learn to live by a new moral code.
Running into more Nausicaans - or worse, Orions - will definitely bring up some interesting situations for this man. Have fun with this.

Very nice piece, FalseBill. Your first story on the archive. Yay! And welcome!
You know I'm a TOS girl, so Nausicaans were new to me, but I get the distinct impression that this young man's behavior is indicative of his race as a whole. Interesting that he wound up in Starfleet, for he seems rough around the edges, much like Worf was - still Klingon at the core, but working to dovetail himself into the Federation's laws and customs.
You should continue his tale - why he respects his current captain, and what he learns from the man. Explore his friendships with other crewmembers - would he make friends, or does it not fit with Nausicaan tradition - and what would he learn from them?
Perhaps a chapter detailing a run-in with the Syndicate he is so desperately trying to aviod. The possibilities are endless.
Author's Response: Thanks for the feedback LBD and the Beta reading. Yes I think when I work on the series he was created for, I'll try to do stories that going into relationships with other crew members and yes I'm sure his path will cross the Syndicate and yes the possibilities are endless.

A Nausicaan in Starfleet is a hard sell but you did a good job here to give him a plausible backstory. Indeed there may be no better place to hide from the Syndicate and his involuntary departure from his home could make for interesting future story-lines.
