So now we get to the key point of the opening change of that question.
You do a good job as in early chapters of showing the effect the dream has on both Jessica and the AU Bridget and how both of them are left to wonder from a dream what might have been and how much they friendship meant.
Good exploration of the STO opening story and how each different officer rises to the challenge in the myriad of universes.
This was an interesting choice of scenes and the use of music in the captain ready room to highlight the differences and similarities is well done.
Indeed a Merry little story.

Now that is an interesting chapter. So we get to see what happens when Bridget not Jessica takes the lead after the Borg attack on Vega Colony. As Jessica is nursing an broken rib injury.
Was interesting to see Seymour still been a useless buffoon, just in a different way. Nice to see someone finally give him the slap he deserves.
The fall out from the attack and the damage and fear you do a great job of expanded on the surviving officers fear as they try to work out what to do next.
Well written and good prose as always.

So Jessica reason for requesting to be assigned to the Rafale is explained and yes it does sound silly said aloud but it show how close Jessica is to Bridget and Justine that she can voice it aloud, and they response is to say they look to be assigned to Rafale next year.
Simply but good opening.

A brilliantly written story Temp. The attention to detail and characterisation is the type I strive for but seem often to fail. Such a grim reality depicted here. Star Trek at it's finest.

Wow TS, I liked this a lot. Seems you and I took a similar approach...part of the reason why I don't read other challenge stories until mine is finished and posted. ;-)
Not being all that familiar with your universe, at the end I wasn't sure which was the true reality but in a way, I think that made it better for me - I could convince myself that somewhere, somehow they all survived.

Ah, the siren call of Parallels!
In one scenario, one lives, or another. Interesting how Justine either dies or is damaged in both. Perhaps there's a third scenario out there, where Justine takes charge, and is physically (but not necessarily mentally) all right?
Compelling, as always.
