Another sweet, wee piece to add to the BCI series.  Loved the subtle references to the Kobayashi Maru murders and Tennyson, securely linking this tale with the first one.  Maybe Beverly should give up her day job and concentrate solely on CSI work. ;)

But seriously, nice tight, concise piece showcasing Beverly's ability to work outside the box; to help in whatever manner she is needed as it were.

High marks for the Bakdornians.  Surely a frightening race--especially to humans given the horns and fangs--but by the end Kred was a likeable, gentle fellow, his actions belying his gruff outward appearance.

All in all, a great fit for the 'Crimes' challenge.

Perhaps the next installment could include some misadventures as she tries to help out on Cardassia--I'm just sayin'. ;)

Author's Response: Thanks as always. I tend to get a kick out of creating new races and they tend to follow this pattern. Tennyson I figure will feature regularly in some way. Maybe more Sam to Beverly's Quincy than Higgins to Magnum. She feels younger than she is which tends to affect my writing. As for the next instalment, well...I suspect you've likely influenced piece 3 rather than 2 as II is well advanced :)

Winning friends and influencing people wherever she goes! And, in the meantime, getting back the goods and freeing the slave women (I always disliked the idea from ENT that the Orion women were in charge somehow. Slaves are slaves, far as I'm concerned).

Author's Response: I admit to forgetting that aspect of the ENT episode. I mean, the male Orion from "Bound" sort of appeared to my memory as I wrote the men here but the women...I think I was influenced more by "The Best and the Brightest" where one of the cadets rescues a slavegirl and helps her escape. Truth be told the slavegirls were not originally in this story, it sort of happened :) my thanks
