Hey look, another Random Review!
I think you must be a mom, because you've definitely got all the little parental "tells" in there for these two ladies. As a dad...yeah...I'm guilty of some of those, too. Especially the making faces.
Which, I wonder, how much ridicule or stares did she get on Vulcan when Amanda did the goofy faces with Spock?
I wonder, too, if as Spock grew up, her inability to hold/hug him wasn't necessarily because he was too big/heavy...but because he was trying to be Vulcan? How incredibly heart-hurting that would be for me...to see my kids grow up, whom I love dearly (and who I know love me as well) but not be allowed to show that affection for them.
But yeah, I liked this a lot. It would be amazing to see if Spock and Kirk ever caught wind of this chance encounter of their mothers long before they knew one another.
Author's Response: I am. My oldest is eight, and my youngest is six. And I was definitely in mother mode when I wrote it. Thank you so much!

Nice. I know that doesn't sound like saying much, but trust me, it means more than it says. Tone-of-voice just doesn't come across in print, more's the pity.
Author's Response: Thank you!

That was really sweet. I love how you explored that "mother knowledge" that most mothers seem to have. I wish these two would have had the chance to be friends in regular life; I think they both would have benefitted from it. Well written!
Author's Response: I think they would have, too. Thanks so much!

Ooooh, that's a point I had never considered. Spock was brought up Vulcan, but what of the needs of his mother. It's a two way street need in motherhood, would Amanda have been permitted to hug/hold Spock as she needed?
A great fic, hon. It says so much without directly having to say it directly and that's something I love to read...where the story becomes more than just the words.
Thanks so much for writing.

Author's Response: I think Amanda would have; I don't think anyone could deny her, at least in his infanthood. Thank you very much!

Mothers... should be prohibited to write. LOL. Just kidding. ;-)
Such a shame their children never knew of this encounter. Might have been embarassing, of course. Then again... cute. ;-)
Author's Response: Why should we? :-P Thank you very much.

Wow! It's been a long time since my kids were that little (youngest is now 13), but the dialogue, the nuances, the intimations - all ring true. Would have been neat for Winona to see Spock...left me feeling melancholy and a little bit wistful...
Author's Response: I didn't want to push my luck with credibility too far. ;-) But thank you much; mine are coming up on two and four, and I already miss them being itties.
