Now this is an interesting road (space) trip for Eriecho and Saddik and I think the interaction between the Vulcans and the little boy was interesting but also a little sad as Saddik realize the truth of the innocent questions.
Still Enkir views as a Suliban on the destruction of Vulcan and how the Suliban and Vulcans have both lost their homeworld.
Still Eriecho conversation and joyful relationship with L’Cultura was nicely handle and a surprise joy to read, for though we learn of H’Shema past, it seems helping to rise Eriecho was atonement for some past crime. Thought it sad that her family never learn the truth of what crime sent her to Canamar.
Those few last paragraph on how the visit help L’Cultura and how family can be more than DNA some times, ending with a smile from Saddik as well as Eriecho sum up the wonderful heart of that story for me.

Oh, I thank you. And you're right; it's the parallels between the Suliban and the Vulcans here. Of course they would reach out for each other. And as for H'Shema, well, sometimes your children do bad things. I didn't want her to be innocent. I wanted her to be have a reason to need to be redeemed.

Because I couldn't get enough, I decided to read this one, too! And I loved it. I loved Eriecho meeting the rest of her family; no, not by blood, but what the Hell does that actually matter in the end? She has one, which she can love, and who can love her, and that pleases me. I love the looks at their respective cultures. At H'Shema's history, and who she was, and how she managed to make such a huge difference in the life of this one girl.
The necklace made me happy. And it made Eriecho happy. I hope they keep in touch, this unlikely family.

A nice little story about family, the aftermath of the destruction of Vulcan, and a good use of the Suliban. I also like the tale about H'Shema's redemption from petty criminal to someone giving her all to help Eriecho. Good job.

Nice, jespah. A very poignant look at the true meaning of family. It doesn't (and shouldn't) have to be tied strictly to genetics.
I like the fact that the Suliban also lost their homeworld many years ago. Perhaps part of the reason H'Shema took Saddik and Eriecho under her wing, so to speak, in the prison camp. Vulcan may not have been destroyed at this point, but it was certainly lost to these 'members' of her newfound family.
A nice look at redemtion, too, and a way for a mother (L'Cultura) to see that even though her daughter had made mistakes in the past, she was able to find purpose, to give her life meaning and direction, even within the confines of a penal colony. It represents a hope all mothers have for their children, and it was nice to see L'Cultura be made aware of that in her twilight years, after such a long time without news, and hope, for her daughter.
I'm convinced Eriecho will maintain contact with her new 'family,' even if it can't be face to face, and this contact will enrich all of their lives. Beautiful work. :D

I had kinda gone into this one thinking about the idea of there being a special name for the daughter of a daughter. After all, there are always mothers of daughters, but there aren't necessarily daughters of daughters.
And I wanted the dichotomy to be a hard one, that H'Shema was driven by the kinds of demons that a lot of people have to face, e. g. it still happens, even in the "best" of families.
For Eriecho, she's craving guidance from someone, even as she is going to, kind of, be a mother, and will probably have to guide someone herself. A terrifying position to be in! But if H'Shema could find meaning and direction, even after all that she had been through, surely there is hope for our gal. :)
