I find it interesting how Daniels tells the people he meets that he's "no one" and a "Stranger". Since he's a time traveler, I think that response is the one that probably makes the most sense, as people, especially those from the past, aren't going to understand the concept of time travel or the idea that worlds and peoples could exist beyond the far stars that we see.
I have to wonder, though, if Admiral Calavicci is not asking for trouble inviting one of her agents to "play" with the timeline. I suppose time will tell.
I know they were dressed to fit in with the rest of the people in the community, but I'm surprised Daniels and his historian friend weren't pegged as outsiders (someone unknown to the community) and therefore decried as a bad influence on the community and asked to leave. Maybe he wasn't there long enough, or maybe it was a large enough community that people didn't know all of their neighbors there. Hmm.
I'll be looking forward to reading more.

Certainly they are outsiders, but the surveyor cover should help with that - they would be itinerants, and that would help to explain things.

A time-travelling Casanova? Intriguing! I get the sense from these few words that he is weary and somewhat despondent. His boss's suggestion might seem a superficial fix, but perhaps he will gain more from his experiences...?

Carmen needs him. For this part of the timeline, he is her sole full-time time traveler. But at least it's just for observations. Plus he is a lonely single guy anyway. Thank you for reading!

Interesting premise. My biggest worry, what if he impregnates someone in the distant past? What effect will any person who is not supposed to exist have on the timeline?

Oh Daniels run the danger of becoming a stranger to himself too at this rate. I wonder if that is why he and Archer butted heads so much but seemed to make a connection. Both men striving to be something but all too often having to be something else in order to get the job necessary done. But he cold aloof stoic impartiality to all things is bound to cause him more pain in the end. I wonder if he can/will learn to not be so aloof, so detached, to allow a connection to someone or will he allow his mission and the protection of the timeline to override everything.

I have the hardest time being sympathetic with him; I wonder if it's because his narrative comes across as so detached and flat, if this is some kind of coping mechanism wherein he distances himself. Still, it's an interesting start!

He is very detached - he kind of has to be. He'll be gone in a day or an hour, and off to something else. I think the life of a professional time traveling agent would, for the most part, be a kind of hell.

Ah, Daniels -- bedding women across time to deal with the traumas of working his particular job. He's got a hell of a mental makeup, but I'm hoping he finds peace in this series ... or, perhaps, he gets to a place where he no longer HAS to go to these lengths. Well done, looking forward to more.

Daniels, you sly dog, you. Interesting to see Calavicci all but give him her blessing, given her position and the stakes, but I guess they can go back and fix anything he breaks if it comes to that. Somehow I do believe you are going to have me liking this character by the end of the week.

I hope so. Calavicci is very casual in her management style, and the prime timeline is loaded with nasty moments (such as the Enola Gay). Hence she's giving him a little license if he doesn't really screw things up. But yeah, of course, there's a reset button if needed. Thank you for reading.
