After forgetting my penname, resetting my password, searching for the story url to read it in Safari instead of my gmail app from which my husband sent me the link, I am FINALLY getting around to reviewing this story! And while I am as disconnected to StarTrek as one can be when married to a man who writes fanfic about it, I am interested to see what happens next. Cheers to starting a new adventure!

Interesting prologue, not being overly familiar with full speed ahead it took me a while to understand the characters relationships, but I think this Prologue show the changing situation and the inter-family and friend relationship are sometimes best shown at a wedding.

I really like the wedding venue. It's always fun to imagine what certain ceremonies and other things will be like in the future.

You've given us a wealth of characters to get to know here, and I was especially interested in Govan, the Otex brother who carries a symbiont. I like Abbie's sarcasm, and found the dialogue and description of the three mothers and daughters who were high ranking fascinating.

I won't pretend I know a lot about the time period, as I am mostly a TOS or TNG girl, but I look forward to reading more and getting to know these characters better. I am interested to see where this story is heading.

Ah, lots to get across in a short amount of space. A prologue works well here - and the wedding background is irresistible.

I must admit to being strictly a TOS girl, but nevertheless I found this intriguing.  Well written, the dialogue flowed easily and comfortably.  I like the choice of a wedding as a venue to introduce us to these characters, and there were quite a few who grabbed my attention, from the dashing Otex brothers to the Leone famiily dynamic to the pregnant Abbie, trying to recruit officers in this setting and using her pregnancy as an excuse for such behavior.

Makes me curious to see further interactions between these characters, and how these different and diffuse lives will mesh within this story.

Ah, a wedding. Personal note, totally grinned at the location of "Yarborough Family Vineyards." I actually have an OC family line with that same last name, so it was cool to see it here even if it's completely unrelated to anything else.

*ahem*

As for the prologue itself, there's quite a few things going on here that I liked. From the ease with which the people talked (and didn't talk) with one another to the hint of family drama with Leone, I enjoyed what was said and what wasn't. There was an undertone of "more tha meets the eye" here for me -- seeing two admirals crash a wedding to announce a promotion strikes me as odd.

I really enjoyed Govan the most -- his easy going, confident nature is a great draw and I like his interplay with everyone else. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him.

Well, it wouldn’t be a Leone-involved wedding without drama, would it?

Good to see things working out happily for Jesse Kincaid and his betrothed, and interesting to witness Starfleet rubbing elbows with LCS military personnel so soon after the treaty with the Maquis.

So many changes are in the works here, with promotions and reassignments, it appears something is definitely on the wind.

More, please!

It's been a moment since we've seen these characters and clearly a lot has happened since last we saw them. Everybody seems mostly happy with their lots in life and where their careers have taken them even if Leone is clearly still affected by losing Ariel, understandably.

Even the once former traitor Kincaid seems to be almost fully redeemed judging by the turnout to his wedding. The biggest shock to me however is the positively personable Alynna Nechayev. Bet Picard has never seen her like this.

Author's Response:

The story takes place some time after the last chapter of The Chains of Error, where Leone forgives Kincaid for his transgressions in light of Ariel's death.  Although we haven't had a chance to get into it, yet, Alynna Nechayev is very close with the Leone and Apsinall families, as Nechayev, Krystine's mother Angelina, and Greg's mother Joy all served aboard Majestic together when they were all much younger officers.  This is that character in the embrace of family, where she's more comfortable.

Thanks for reading!
