Those were seven rather interesting moments in Maren O'Conner's life. And again, in the style of some of the other ficlets I have read, a great introduction to this character.
Though I think it would be great if you were to do a story detailing how exactly Icheb left Maren, on the eve of their wedding. Such a story would have serious potential!

Hello Risa! Surely she should have twigged there was only one reason why he would contemplate goinng to Risa - he's not exactly the sun tan type now is he? But then she probably figured he would be doing it for her. A nice follow up to the tale of the aborted proposal and holiday. Even though the timing is perhaps off and the setting not exactly flattering it seems more honest to their relationship than any Risean sunrise setting - he proposes when death has almost claimed him, hooked up to machines, stripped down to almost the hardwires of his cybernetic past, Maren gripping on, hopeful and horrified and worried for him. In the midst of all that could - should even - be ugly they find the moment with one another. Nothing else matters. And of course, I am just thankful knowing the answer. The real painful part is though that I am even more pained by the fact we know just how long and torturous their path is going to be.

As always, some great dialogue, I especially loved this:
“Do you know how many painkillers you’re on right now?"
Very nice. :) Great to see Marin and Icheb at a point in time when they were still together. If I'm not mistaken, we had already seen the run up to this in the Tesseract story? Nice to see the denouement and through Maren's own eyes no less. A great wrap up to this intriguing look into Maren's life.

Fantastic, Kes. Touching, emotive and the rest from start to end. Icheb has blossomed in my eyes from a slight player of the Voyager ensemble to much more. Very well done.

Well, he was planning to do it at the top of Galartha, but he was forced to adapt. It turned out a biobed at Starbase 12 was just as effective. :)

Awww. Team I/M approves.
Furthermore, a beautiful piece. Maren's caring nature. Her refusal to let go of Icheb. Her need to always be by his side.
And Icheb needs her as much as she does. The best thing about this? Is how Icheb was so considerate of Maren's engineering. He got a ring that wouldn't mess things up while she was working and I just loved the detail of the Andorian metal (Andorian Metal FTW).
A happy ending. A lovely ending. A joy to read.

I'm glad you appreciated the ring. He worked hard on that, designed it himself, right down to the engravings. He even secretly took scans of her finger while she was sleeping to ensure a perfect fit. ;-)

OMG, what does she say?! HOW COULD YOU LEAVE IT LIKE THAT?! I love it. I love how real her worry feels, how deep it goes, and I love how he wakes up, what he says, and I could see the intensity and seriousness over it all in his eyes, and yes. Just, so much yes.
