The wonderful whirlwind of joy that is Bethany nearly overshadows the wonderful nervous transport operator Carrie Humphrey, that play well it clear like many on the ship she not used to so informal a commander and does quite know how to responded to the invite.

Still the main event, you introduce us to Bethany and quickly and efficiently show how close she was to Hank and the key parts of her personality, from drag hank on a ship tour, to mentally redecorating her quarters as soon as she see them and them there the infamous Cheeseburger and fries with Andorian ale snack.

For all of Hank's charms and informality, he is smart enough to know how to lift other people's morale, especially since Carrey is going to be a nervous wreck around transporters (and Starfleet assigned her to the Pearl knowing this!?! I blame that Admiral Noble jerk!)

I take it from Hank's reaction that he had a big crush on Bethany but giving there are no awkward moments between the two, then Hank and Bethany remained friends and Hank kept his feelings safe. Bethany's a little bit of enigma, I mean for all her energy and drive there are clear moments where she is suffering from some long-term sorrows; for instance the divorce between her parents.

She appears falsely happy, like it's a mask she puts on in front of all others, but if she and Hank rekindle their friendship. Maybe she will open up a little bit to Hank.

But at any rate, the rumours really will start flying around if Hank and Bethany date...

And it's Bethany!  I love the french fry hanging out of her mouth like in your little story about them when they were kids.  He clearly has it bad for her.  Nothing like a little potential romance to spice things up.

Heh heh. Neat banter. And an old flame enters the fray stage left. Hmmm ... there may indeed be trouble ahead plus a diverse background for her too. You're certainly building up a lot of interesting characters to bounce off one another. I love reading that in a fanfic.

You're right, Chapter 7 is just awesome. I laughed out loud a few times. I love how you make these people so very relatable; I'm not a fan of wholly original crews, but I'm very much a fan of the Pearl's.

This line got me laughing:
“One of the few things I will agree on with my mother…that ale is good.” She began to devour her food while Hank laughed, covering his mouth with his forearm. “What?” she said with a fry hanging from her mouth. She quickly saw it and ate it. She had an annoyed look on her face. “What are you laughing at?”

And the ending of the chapter was even better. I like how Hank relates to his crew; you could say that it's like Jim Kirk, but it's not -- there's none of that high-handedness that Kirk had. Instead, he really comes across as someone who it would almost be natural to be loyal to.
