This Captain Owens appears to have a keen instinct that might serve him well if he were less monomaniacal.

It just occurred to me that the reason Owens keeps wondering why Jarik doesn't seem to be the man he knew at the academy is that Jarik might actually not be the man Owens knew at the academy. Jarik might actually have come back to his home universe.
