Christine Chapel's first day aboard the Enterprise was not without its highs ... and lows.

 

The friendship of Jim Kirk and Spock of Vulcan is the stuff of legend.  But how would Spock’s life have been different if he had never joined Starfleet, instead following the wishes of his father and accepting a position at the Vulcan Science Academy?  Spock, T'Pring, Amanda, I'Chaya, OC.

There had to be more fallout between Kirk and Spock in the wake of Amok Time than we ever saw on screen.  After all, one isn’t almost strangled to death by your best friend – or almost strangles your best friend to death – without repercussions, right?  In sickbay both were still shell-shocked by how things had turned out, but what happened later, when each had time to really think about what had transpired?  Each would have their own hurdles and emotional baggage to overcome. How could either learn to trust the other – or himself – ever again?

Spock was nearly forced by the Platonians to be the one thing he had sworn he would never again be--an instrument of harm to his captain. Soon after, Spock thought the captain was dead, trapped forever between dimensions as the Tholians closed in on the Enterprise, because of Spock's error in calculations. These events aren't as easy to get over as Spock pretends, but he should have known that he can't hide from his captain.

I know this has been done to death, but this is my spin on what Kirk felt during Spock’s death in TWOK, and how it fits with my personal canon.  Essentially a H/C piece, heavy on the hurt, with virtually no comfort.

As a young boy struggles to find his place in the world, a chance encounter sets his feet on a path that will ultimately change the course of his planet's history.  Sorry, can't say anything else without giving too much away. ;-)

This is an immediate sequel to ‘A Mother’s Love’ (so it would be best to read that story first) and was inspired by the free write entitled ‘Of Sock Drawers.’  What does Spock keep in his ‘sock drawer’?  Certainly not what you’d expect.  The story is peppered with allusions to some of my other works, as well as TOS episodes and movies.  Understanding all of those really isn’t necessary, but does add some emotional weight to the piece.

A sequel (of sorts) to ‘Learning Curve,’ McCoy first learns of the existence of a mind link between Kirk and Spock when Jim is captured by the Gorn and tortured to within an inch of his life, the bond their only hope of finding him before it’s too late.  Prior Knowledge of ‘Learning Curve’ would be helpful, but not necessary.  Warning:  Minor character death.  This story has been percolating for months now, and was born from ideas inspired by two free writes which were never written.

It’s never a good thing when the CMO starts seeing things…an expansion on my free write entry entitled ‘I Thought I Might Die.’  Written for Firegrace.

There is little I can say about this piece without giving too much away, except that it represents a profound revelation for Spock.
