Love the descriptions of the Pearl.  Sounds like a beautiful ship.

Also really liked the interactions between the Admirals.  It's always fun when there's friction.

It ws good to learn more about Hank here, as well.  He's quite young, and a little brash!  It will be interesting to see how he develops.

"Flirtin' with Disaster" seems like the kind of song the superstitious among the crew might want to avoid.  Why do I think the title is prescient?

Interesting to see the dynamics of this new, haphazard crew.  Continued goodness.

And it's Bethany!  I love the french fry hanging out of her mouth like in your little story about them when they were kids.  He clearly has it bad for her.  Nothing like a little potential romance to spice things up.

Well that was an interesting debate, and one to be expected from a colony with the strange goings on they've encountered.  Nice introduction to Daren.  I wonder what his beef is with Starfleet, but I guess we'll find out soon enough.  I was almost sniffly over the note his son left him.  What a sweet kid.  It's hard to be a parent and realize you've failed your kid, even in a small way, but kids are so forgiving.  Nice chapter.

Nice to get that glimpse inside Sandhurst's head as he takes on the challenge of his first command.  The detailed description of the post-war chaos and localized violence is realistic and gripping.

Wow, that was an intense battle.  I really liked Faltyne a lot here.  And Sandhurst was clever, sending the Sojourner on a collision course.

Wow.  Heartbreaking. 

I can't wait to see if future missions help Sandhurst become redeemed in his own eyes, and bring him closer to Ramirez.  I also wonder if Pava is to be trusted.  I mean, if Sandhurst wonders, I have to wonder, right?  After all, they're good friends.

The problem with reviewing this chapter is that there's just so much to it.  It's densely written (athough it doesn't drag at all ... it's just really full of imagery and moments worth mentioning and I can't mention them all).

I'll hit the highlights, though I wish I had the time and energy to say more.

First of all the conversation between Macet and Spirodopoulos was fantastic.  Spiro's protectiveness of the men under him, and Macet's understanding and even being impressed -- that was a nice moment.

Then the shower ... you manage to always remind us in the little ways what the differences are between Cardassians and humans, and the story is richer for it.  Just top quality world building.  And then Spiro checking himself out in the mirror with the Cardassian armor on ... getting a small moment to think ... that was great.

And of course, we have the Vulcans.  Superbly written and handled from start to finish; the reactions of everyone involved were just spot on, from the Vulcans to the Trill to the human to the Cardassians.  A very moving scene, indeed.

Oh, I liked this!  The mood is very true to the feel of the end of the series; this seems very natural.  Poor Quark.  You nailed both of their voices, by the way.  Well done!

That was hilarious.  Garak took advantage of the situation, but didn't go too far.  I wonder what he would have done if Bashir hadn't fallen alseep when he did, though.  I feel for Bashir.  Hangovers are no fun at all, especially when you start remembering stuff you might regret ...

Reagan Carter?  Someone's parents had an ironic sense of humor.  I liked the imagery of T'Ela trying to comfort Mike, while also reacting to seeing the worst moment of Earth's history unfold in person, knowing exactly what whas about to happen and not being able to do anything about it.

This piece made me extremely glad that no reporters were actually broadcasting from the upper floors of the WTC on 9/11.  It was bad enough seeing the external view and the jumpers. Then again, one wonders how much more seriously 9/11 would have been taken in the long run had we seen something like this.

This was a sweet story.  I'm really glad I found the time to read it.
