Summary:

Sometime in the far future ...

 

Henry Harrison Jr. has had one pressing question his entire life: who is his father? It had haunted him for as long as he'd been alive. His mother had always told him that he was a product of a sperm donation, that he had been planned ... but the facts never lined up. Investigating his origins, he finally discovers the truth and realizes that you can’t outrun legacy.

 

And this legacy may very well be the one that ends his life … or saves it.

I love that you can read so much into the characters with so few words - Spock's nervousness, Scotty's love of machinery, the way these characters work together. It definitely has a different flavour from Kirk's Enterprise. It really is a shame we didn't get to see more Pike episodes.

As much as I loved the happiness in this fic, I think it needed the balance of the darkness in this final chapter - so beautifully linked to the Prime 'verse. Lovely fic!

Thank you for reading, even though you were at a tremendous disadvantage not knowing these characters in their prime universe form. Most of my stuff is the opposite of this ... angsty and tragic, although there is humor and love laced in. This is the first time I've ever written anything as unabashedly sweet, and it was a favor of sorts to my regular readers, who probably have tragedy fatigue after six years of reading the prime universe storyline!  Anyway, thanks so much for the comments. I hope you'll check out some of my other work to see that I'm not always so sugary sweet.  ;-)
